When we first started Eventifies, it was just a concept that we kept explaining to people: an app for people who want to go to events but don't have anyone to go with. We noticed that this problem came up often, especially among students, internationals and young adults who are new in a city.

After weeks of brainstorming, researching, designing and changing things many times, we finally created our first MVP.

What the MVP is — and what it isn't

Our MVP is not the final version of Eventifies yet, but it shows the basic idea of how the app could work. The main goal was to make the concept easier to understand and easier to test. Instead of only describing the app, we now have something visual that people can actually look at and react to whenever we pitch it.

In this first version, we focused on the most important part of Eventifies, which is helping users find people who are going to the same event.

What building it taught us

For us, creating the MVP was a big step because it made our idea truly come to life. It also helped us notice what still needs improvement. Some parts that sounded simple in theory became more complicated once we had to design them. For example, we had to think about what information users need first, how the event pages should look and how people would feel comfortable connecting with others.

Completing the MVP gave us so much more confidence in our project, and it also showed us that this is only the beginning. The next step is to keep testing, improve the design and see which features matter most.

This sets an important milestone for our team — Eventifies is no longer just a concept.

When we started developing Eventifies, we knew the app could not only be about meeting new people. It also had to be about feeling safe while doing it.

The idea of Eventifies is to help people find others who are going to the same event, but we also understand that meeting someone new — especially through an app — can feel uncomfortable. This became one of the main points we discussed as a group while improving our MVP.

Verified profiles

One of the first safety features we looked at was verified profiles. We wanted users to feel more confident that the people they are talking to are real. Trust is important because users are more likely to connect with others when they feel that the platform is safe and controlled.

Event-based connections

We also focused on event-based connections. Eventifies is different from random social apps because users connect through a shared event. This makes the interaction feel more natural. You are not just talking to a stranger for no reason — you are talking to someone who is interested in going to the same place as you.

Group chats over one-on-one

Another thing we discussed was the importance of group chats. Instead of pushing users into one-on-one meetups, group chats can make the experience feel more relaxed. For example, if several people are going to the same concert or party, they can talk in a small group before deciding whether to meet at the event.

This is especially important for people who feel nervous about attending alone. A group setting can make the first step easier and less intimidating.

Staying in control

We also wanted users to stay in control. Eventifies should help people connect, but it should not make them feel pressured. Users should be able to choose who they talk to, which groups they join and whether they want to meet in person.

During our validation phase, we noticed that safety is not just a small detail. It is one of the reasons why people decide whether they would actually use our app or not. That feedback helped us realise that safety needs to be built into the app from the start — not added later as an extra feature.

For future versions of Eventifies, we would like to explore more safety options, such as reporting tools, community guidelines, profile checks and safety tips for meeting at events.

During our research, we noticed something that many people could relate to — wanting to go to an event, but not having anyone to go with.

This problem may sound small at first, but it can actually stop people from going out. Someone might see a concert, festival, student party or local event that looks interesting, but if none of their friends want to join, they may decide to stay home instead.

That is one of the reasons we believe Eindhoven is a good place for Eventifies.

A city full of events — and new faces

Eindhoven has many students, internationals, young professionals and expats. It is also a city with many different events, from nightlife and music to student activities and cultural events. However, being in a city with many events does not automatically mean people have someone to go with.

This is especially true for people who are new in the city. Many international students and young adults are still building their social circle. They may want to explore Eindhoven, but feel awkward or uncomfortable to attend events alone.

Value for both users and organizers

We wanted Eventifies to solve this problem in a simple way. Instead of depending only on your existing friends, you can find people who are already interested in the same event. This makes the connection feel more natural because there is already a shared plan.

We also think Eventifies could be useful for event organizers in Eindhoven. If people feel more comfortable attending events, they may be more likely to buy tickets and show up. This could help organizers reach people who are interested, but hesitant to attend alone.

What we like about this idea is that it creates value for both sides. Users get a way to meet people and attend more events. Organizers get the chance to attract more visitors and build a stronger community around their events.

The real barrier is social, not logistical

Through our project, we saw that loneliness and social hesitation are real barriers — it is not always about people being antisocial. Sometimes they just need an easier first step. That is what we want Eventifies to offer.
